I’m glad you’re visiting Outer Banks Gifts, an e-commerce site for Beach Treasures in Duck…that used to be Beach Essentials…but let me back up!

It all started with some humble beginnings in 1989 -- Beach Essentials – located here in Duck on the Outer Banks.  A dream and endeavor to offer, quite literally, beach essentials!  The shop sold the proverbial hermit crabs, collectible souvenirs, and popular stickers and decals that visitors love to take home.  Even now, when I visit other cities and states, I smile when I see a car sporting an OBX decal on its bumper. 

When I assumed management of the shop in 1991 and eventually became its owner in 2004, I began remaking Beach Essentials into what is now known as Beach Treasures in Duck.  From the simple to the sublime, our shop is quite unique – now filled with a vast collection of gemstone jewelry, art from nearly 40 local artists, and a robust line of popular Outer Banks Gifts. Just last year, we enhanced our online shopping experience by creating two separate sites – Outer Banks Gifts Online, for collectibles, art, and many OBX favorites; and Beach Treasures Online exclusively for our jewelry.

If you’ve visited us along the Town of Duck Boardwalk, you know that the shop has an extensive gift selection including drinkware & dishware, ladies’ resortwear, beach bags, caps, beachy collectibles, Christmas ornaments, and of course, the array of Outer Banks souvenirs including the still-popular OBX bumper stickers and decals. Several of our products, such as our Stop and Smell the Sunshine line, are unique to our shop and depict our memorable location in Duck on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. 

Today, the shop also features a great deal of local and regional art – with four of our artists currently featured here on our online store. Great for gifts and memory making, most of our local art and photography features the iconic favorites of our visitors – the Corolla Wild Horses, Outer Banks lighthouses, sea life, ducks, and of course, our beautiful beaches and magnificent seascapes.
